Weronika Czyżewska-Poncyljusz

Coordinator of International Programs

Weronika Czyżewska-Poncyljusz is a graduate of Collegium Invisible and is currently undertaking a PhD with the University of Warsaw’s Department of History. In academic activities she explores themes of social engagement through art, education in the area of multiculturalism, and social and cultural transformations in Central Europe in the twentieth century. She is initiator and coordinator of a range of educational and artistic projects for Polish and Lithuanian young people in the International Center for Dialog in Krasnogruda, as well as coordinating the Borderland School program, an international training program for leaders of integrative activities in multicultural communities.

Krzysztof Czyżewski

Co-founder and president, Borderland Foundation and director of Borderland of Arts, Cultures and Nations Centre, Sejny

Krzysztof Czyżewski is a writer, philosopher, cultural animator, theatre director and editor. He is co-founder and president of Borderland Foundation, and joint initiator of the International Center for Dialog in Krasnogruda on the Polish-Lithuanian border. The Center is located in a manor house that once belonged to the family of Czesław Miłosz, and which Czyżewski and his team renovated in 2011. He has initiated intercultural dialogue programmes in Europe, Caucasus, Israel, Central Asia, Indonesia, Bhutan and the USA. As a teacher and lecturer, he has been a visiting professor of Rutgers University and the University of Bologna since 2015. He is a laureate of the Dan David Prize (2014) and Irena Sendlerowa Prize (2015). As part of the Borderland team he is the 2018 Princess Margriet European Award for Culture (Amsterdam) laureate.
